Students at NewmanCampus Minister: Hello and welcome to the Newman Center. I’m really excited to tell you about the wonderful things we have planned to make this your home away from home. You can see some regular events on this website and we can add you to our listserv to get even more. Just a little about myself. I graduated from the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign with a degree in business administration. My former career in business assisted in my development for a life in ministry. I love sports, movies and the outdoors. My husband John and I travel to the Grand Canyon at least twice a year for a good hike. We also spend a lot of time on campus now that he is back in school at ASU. It is a privilege to work for the Newman Center as the Campus Minister and share the Gospel message of love with you. I am convinced that God meets us right where we are and you will certainly find Him all around this holy place. Whether it’s at Mass alongside your neighbor, on retreat in the mountains of Prescott, or on the volleyball court alongside your teammates, you will feel God’s presence. So come on by, and let us get to know you! RetreatsRetreats help build community and provide deep spiritual experiences. Our New Student Getaway is the first retreat of the year for all new students. We also offer two undergrad retreats, one in the fall and one in the spring. Students travel up to Camp Tepeyac in Prescott and spend the weekend in prayer, activities, faith sharing, and reflection. You'll make friends for a lifetime! Intramural SportsIf you love to play sports, register to play intramural sports with the Newman Center. We’ll pay for the entrance fees! We’re also always looking for people to cheer our athletes on! Sports being offered this fall include Volleyball and Flag Football. During spring we participate in 5 on 5 Basketball, Soccer and Slow Pitch Softball. College NightCollege Night is our flagship activity for college students. This event takes place once a week on Thursdays at 7pm during the school year, and incorporates both prayer and social activities. College Night is a great way to meet people and take a first step into involvement at the Newman Center. Table on the MallWeekdays during the school year, students staff a table in the middle of ASU’s campus. They provide information to interested students, faculty, and staff. Look for us this fall outside of the Danforth Chapel! Alternative Spring BreakInterested in doing something meaningful for your spring break? The Newman Center sends students on social justice based trips both within the United States and El Salvador. S.A.L.T.SALT is the Student Association Leadership Team. SALT members are the hands and feet that minister to our student community. SALT is a voluntary ministry that plans student prayer services, weekly fellowship, social justice, community service, intramural and other events that keep our Newman Center thriving. SALT is the place to grow into a passionate and faithful Catholic leader as you share your gifts with your community. Applications are now available for the 2009-10 School year. They are due on Friday, April 24, 2009 Click
InternsThese students hold paid internship positions on the staff. They have various responsibilities related to campus outreach.
