Preparation for this sacrament at the Newman Center takes place primarily in the home and on two particular days when all those preparing come together for shared activities and reflection. One is a family retreat day held on a Saturday in the fall. The other family retreat day is held in the spring and is also the day that we celebrate the sacrament.

Each family receives a First Reconciliation Student Book as well as a Family Guide published by RCL. We ask that in the weeks leading up to the retreat days, you work through your child’s book together, using the Family Guide to help you in your role as the primary catechist for your child.
