MISSION STATEMENT
Newman Grounds exists for the purpose of providing a rich coffee experience that satisfies the physical, spiritual and intellectual well being of today’s conscientious consumer. We will provide this experience by offering a coffee that actively facilitates dignity and respect for the producer and consumer building solidarity from within the global community.
The Newman Center will begin selling Fair Trade Coffee during the second and fourth weekends of each month. Coffee will be purchased from Just Coffee, a cooperative in Salvador Urbina, Chiapas Mexico. To learn more about this cooperative, click on the link below.

Blessing for the Newman Grounds Ministry
Bless the coffee growers and the hands that plant and sow.
St. Isadore, guide them and give them patience and persistence.
Bless the coffee roasters, the hands that prepare the beans.
St. Drogo, help the roasters grow in charity and hope.
Bless those who drink the coffee.
St Catherine of Siena, guide these coffee drinkers to be tolerant, loving, forgiving and compassionate.
Bless the Newman Grounds Volunteers, who nurture all of these relationships.
St. Dominic, pray that they continue to pass on God’s love and justice throughout our community.
In Jesus’ name we pray.
Amen.
COFFEE SALES AS OF SEPTEMBER 28TH, 2009
1200 Lbs. of coffee sales supports one entire coffee farming family in Chiapas for an entire year!
The Newman Grounds members want to thank all the people who collaborated to make this happen. We look forward to your support in the future.
COFFEE ROASTER TRIP, June 16th 2009
The Newman Grounds Ministry Group went to meet the Coffee roaster located in Douglas, Arizona. Below you can find some pictures of our little adventure

- Arabica and Marago beans before roasting
By roasting the beans in Mexico, a high percentage of the earnings stay in Mexico. Under the Fair Trade Plus system used by Cafe Justo, 100% of the end product value of a family's yearly harvest remains in Mexico

- 25 lbs of beans into the roaster!!
25 lbs of beans are poured into the roaster where are heated up to 450oF by natural gas flames. The beans are tumbled inside the roaster
Freshly roated coffee beans!!
Yummy!!
